Sincere condolences to Nat Lofthouse's family at this very sad time.. But what proud memories thay have of a truly great footballer, sportsman, gentleman, and ambassador for both BWFC and his hometown of Bolton. My dad took me to Burnden Park for the first time in the mid-1950s when Nat was in his pomp and he was one of my boyhood heroes as I was fortunate to see him play for the last 4 or 5 years of his distinguished career. Football will not witness his like ever again and he is up there alongside Sir Bobby Charlton, and Sir Tom Finney as one-club footballers who are a credit to thier clubs and sport. RIP Nat Lofthouse, you are irreplaceable.
- Graham Edge
Nat a Bolton Gentleman through and through you were an inspiration to many. You taught people that football was a game to be enjoyed and loved We are so glad that you taught this from the Bolton wanderers football club it is an honour for me to say that we come from and live in the same town as Nathaniel Lofthouse our personal Bolton hero and Legend. xx R.I.P

My absolute boyhood hero. A shining light to my Dad's generation coming home from the war and rebuilding their lives. Football and Bolton will always be a part of us. What a privelege for a young boy to be able to look up to someone who was brave, honest and modest. A real man.
- Mike France
I was born in the year the great "Sir" Nat lifted the FA Cup at Wembley on the last occasion Wanderers won it, and I am proud to be a season ticket holder in the stand which bears his name.
A truly great English football hero.
The Lion sleeps tonight! R.I.P.
- Steve Christey. Westhoughton.
As a Newcastle supporter of 57 years I first saw the great Nat play when I was a boy of 9 . Bolton won that game at St James 3-2 and of course Nat scored. What left a lasting impression was the sportsmanship of Nat who when given offside accepted the decision, picked up the ball and placed it down for the freek kick to applause from all around the ground. A true great who played hard but fair. Like our own Wor Jackie a man of great loyalty and a true gentleman we shall not see their likes again. Thanks Nat for the joy you brought to real football supporters across the land. Condolences to his family,
- John Haynes

Nat Lofthouse - A footballing Legend, The one and only Wanderer!!! R.I.P to the legend that will be missed by all football fans no matter what team they support.
- Vicky Meddick (BWFC fan)
Born in Norfolk with Aunt and uncle from Bolton. May 1958 and I'm in the playground with a football, on my own, 'cause I wore a Bolton kit - the rest wore Man Who. Remember the rows about shoulder charging. We would still have won 1 - 0.
Still got that Final programme.
Moved to Bolton - attended Burnden when Manchester Road was awash with fans surging to see the great 'Trotters'.
Thanks for the memories.
- Colin
He was the lion
The lion of Vienna
He was the lion
The pride of Lancashire
There'll be other centre forwards
And other football teams
But the lion of Vienna is the best there's ever been.
Rest in Peace, Nat.
- Danny Cunliffe
